“And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud

was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
– Anais Nin

Teletherapy is available.

Is there a hole in your heart? A space in your life that you feel can never be filled? And what you’d really like to do is sit down in person with your therapist to get the help you need?

But things are different now––and most counseling is happening online. Before you give up and decide that you’ll just wait until the world becomes safe again, take a look at what I wrote recently about teletherapy.

Not sure online counseling is for you? Need more information? Let’s talk (310-475-1759), so I can answer your questions and so we can decide together if video sessions might be a good fit for you.

Loss, and the grief that results, come in many forms. Every change, no matter how small, requires that you do or feel something different. Even transitions you might think should be positive can feel like a loss as you grieve the life you used to have.

Some typical losses people commonly experience are:

……. Death of someone close
…….
Loss of an important relationship
…….
Job change
…….
Residence change
……. Loss of a beloved pet
…….
Children added to or leaving the family

…….
Marriage or divorce
…….
Health challenges
…….
A car accident
…….
A lot of smaller changes that, together, become overwhelming

Or – what did I miss? Please let me know.

Some survival tips (coping with your grief)…….

……. Allow yourself time to grieve – it’s a normal response to loss.
…….
Let a friend or two help you – you might need the support.
…….
Don’t make important decisions until you are feeling better.
…….
Join a grief group.
…….
Keep a journal – for your eyes only.
…….
Meditate.
…….
Increase your physical activity – exercise can help.
…….
Make a list of things to do that you find relaxing – then do them.
…….
Take care of medical problems – stress can make them worse.
…….
Set goals – what would you like to do when you feel better?
…….
As soon as you can, return to a daily routine, even if it’s difficult.
…….
Get professional help if you feel stuck and can’t move on.
